Volunteers and Guest Speakers to provide insights into careers and skills in Gaming
In 2021, Digital Xtra Fund launched this platform to help our industry partners connect with the various initiatives funded during the Round VI (2021/2022) grants cycle. This enabled them to more easily engage with young people and share their skills and knowledge of the sector.
During the 2021/22 academic year, which was still being impacted by restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Digital Xtra Fund facilitated 15 industry engagements: 3 in-person engagements, 9 online sessions, 2 pre-recorded resources, and a series of Career case studies (submitted by 24 staff). As a result, 51 volunteers contributed approximately 103.5 hours and positively engaged with 1,325 young people.
In addition, 40 evaluators took part in the Round VII (2022/23) Evaluation Panel in May 2022 of which 27 panellist were from industry and 13 were from the public, education or skills sectors. These volunteers help the Fund evaluate and select successful grant recipients for the 2022/23 academic year. Each panellists evaluated 7 or 8 applications thus contributing to a total of approximately 282 hours.
